The programme for the spectacular and popular May Fair in Torrevieja has been announced with the activities running from Wednesday 9th to Sunday 13th May around the port area.

On Wednesday 9th May, the 2012 edition of Torrevieja´s May Fair will be inaugurated, usually at around 21:00hrs, with a firework display and the symbolic switiching on of lights, which opens the Fair.

Entrance to the Fair Ground is free although tickets are required for the seating area. If you have not visited the Fair before, put it in your diary now, as this in one of the most colourful fiestas in Torrevieja and is second only to the original Sevillanas Ferias in Andalusia in size and spectacle.

Torrevieja´s offering includes a display of horses and carriages on Saturday and Sunday, singing and dancing each evening and lots of food.

PROGRAMME:

Wednesdat, May 9

9pm - Lightening of the Fair accompanied by interpretation of anthems by the local music band Union Musical Torrevejense and the choir Maestro Ricardo Lafuente´followed by a firework display. Later on: performance by local dance academies such as the Local Dance School, directed by Nuria Girona. (free admission).

Thursday, May 10

9pm - Performance by the local dance academy Paya´s and its flamenco group. (free admission).   

Friday, May 11

9pm - Performance by the Rosy Sancho dance academy. 

11pm - Concert by El Arrebato (free admission)

Saturday, May 12

12am - Mass at the Inmaclada´s Archpriest´s Church sung by a rociero choir. Parade up to the door of the church, welcome to authorities and congregation and then parade up to the fair facilites. Once there, entrance of Spanish horse riders up to 4pm. 9pm - Performance by the Lola Morales dance academy. 10:30pm - Concert II concurso de Copla (free admission).

Sunday, May 13

9pm - Performance of Maria del Angel dance academy. 11:30 - Closing of the May Fair with final concert by the rociero choir and the Masa Coral José Hodar choir.

Wednesday, May 9
